Splash Requirements  

REDTAILS SPLASH REQUIREMENTS

  1. 10 rhythmic bobs in chest deep water
  2. Jump from side into deep water
  3. Kneel dive from side
  4. Swim underwater 3 body lengths
  5. Back float in deep water for 1 minute
  6. Treading water using modified scissor, breaststroke or rotary kick & sculling motions for 1 minute
  7. Front crawl 25 yards with rotary breathing to the side
  8. Back crawl 25 yards
  9. Submerge and retrieve object in chest deep water
  10. Flutter kicking on front & back in horizontal position
  11. Flutter kick on side
  12. Willing to participate in swim meets
  13. These are just rough guidelines and ultimately it is coach’s discretion as to whether he/she feels the child is ready or not.
  14. Comfortable swimming without an instructor in the water in  the deep end.

This is the end of level 3/beginning level 4 rec center classes and is a loose estimation as city teachers will vary as to what they feel is level 3/level 4.
